This is the
first look at our new Street King Type-S Tube and Fin
Intercooler.
Internally the intercooler has a consistent 10FPI, this is
essential to remove the heat efficiently. You should also note the square stamped
fins of our intercoolers, this gives a far bigger contact area to the tube wall,
thus better heat disbersment. Cheaper intercoolers have the folded fin design
that can bunch up (not consistent) causing large gaps and possibly not welding
to the tube wall due to the small contact area.
Externally, Street King
intercoolers have a fin pitch of 12FPI, are straight and uniform to allow more
air through and the tubes have a tapered leading edge to direct the air around
the tube, (you can see this in the internal photo) and no silver paint to peel
off like the cheap intercoolers.
The tanks are polished and come with 3"
inlet/outlets on the 600 x 300 core or 2.5" inlet/outlet on the 450 x 300 core.
The smaller inlets were chosen for the 450 core as these cores will mostly suit
and be used on smaller vehicles which do not need the larger inlet as pipe work
will most likely be 2.5" diameter, and will aid in the installation of pipes when
room is at a minimum.
The top and bottom plates are polished on our first
batch, but will be a linished finish when our logo is eventually stamped on
them, and are 2mm thick with a folded edge for maximum strength, all the neat
welding is also lightly polished.
I will add pressure drop and more
importantly, temperature drop info in the next couple of
weeks.
